ZERIBE NWOSU FOUNDATION (ZNF) RELEASES ANNUAL ESSAY COMPETITION FOR NIGERIAN STUDENTS FOR 2024 ACADEMIC YEARLY

The Zeribe Nwosu Foundation (ZNF) hereby launching the ZNF Annual Essay Competition for the year 2024. In these essays, authors are reflecting on their personal experiences or perspectives gathered in conversations with others to articulate the challenges/issues associating with undergraduate education in Nigeria. Importantly, authors should suggesting potential solutions. The works to be submitting must be original and the authors. However, we encourage all authors to seize this opportunity to learn for soliciting feedback from peers or seniors.

PRIZES FOR THE WINNING ESSAYS

1st Prize – N50,000 (Fifty thousand Naira)
2nd Prize – N40,000 (Forty-thousand Naira)
3rd Prize – N30,000 (Thirty thousand Naira)

  • 2 Honorable Mentions (at N10,000 each) *NOTE – Collusion or plagiarism will leading to automatic disqualification

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

  1. The author must be at least an under graduating in any Nigerian university (private or public).
  2. Individuals who will have finishing NYSC by July 15, 2024 are not availability for applying.
  3. Only a submission is permitting per author.
  4. Essays not conforming with the essay specifications below will deeming ineligible.
  5. Unless permission by the ZNF, only submissions making using this form will considering. Unsolicited emailing of the essay to the foundation is disallowing.

ESSAY SPECIFICATIONS

  1. Essay should maximum of 2,000 words (excluding references if including)
  2. Essay documents layout should be: font size – 12, font type – Arial and line spacing – 1.5

TIMELINE

Submission deadline/closing date – July 15, 2024 Result announcement – August 1, 2024

EVALUATION/REVIEW

Each essay will be reviewed by at least two people who can assign scores (in percent) as following:

Adherence to essay specifications = 10 Organization/structure/logical flow = 10 Clearly outlined opportunities (with explanations) = 20 Clearly outlined threats (with explanations) = 25 Use of solid examples to buttress points = 10 Grammatical and spellings correctness = 15 Solid convincing conclusions = 10 Evidence of plagiarism = Disqualification The harmonized versions from the winning essays will be subsequently published on our website and possibly on other platforms.
